Real Simple Magazine May 2016 Issue: Discussion & Review

This is one of the magazines that I used to subscribe.  I cancelled my subscription because I have no space for magazines that I don't really read.  This magazine always has  a very attractive cover photo which is what enticed me into subscribing. Among the stacks of the old issues, I had only recently read one article so far in the "Life Lessons" section.  It was simply a waste of my 10 minutes.  I read it because I felt curious while I was unboxing my moving box full of Real Simple Magazines.  I hear that the magazine pays $2.00 for every word.  But is "Life Lessons" a section that pays writers for the essay or it's a vanity section that lets writers  provide free essays in exchange for a by-line? The Next Best Thing: Book Discussion

I don't have time to read all my books because I'm addicted to playing the fashion game Stardoll. Hi, welcome to my book party! Please feel free to comment and discuss about this book in the comment area below if you are currently reading this book.  Right now, I'm stuck at page 47 where the virgin heroine of the story senselessly gave her first-ever blow job to a co-worker whom she had a crush on. She did it hoping to rope him in to be her boyfriend. I'm feeling traumatized when the book said the heroine was coughing and sputtering after gulping the semen that tasted like hot, salted Clorox.  Ewk! This is the first romance novel I read, and is just the saddest thing I have to read.  This is so ruining all the notions about love and romance that I'd learnt from Disney!  How low a self-esteem does a woman have in order to make herself suffer like this?   I spent $6.50 (price + sales tax) to buy this book and I'm not entertained as of now... Book Discussion: No One Would Listen

For years, I had let this book buried in one of my moving boxes. Tonight, I finally have a chance to read the first few pages, only to discover that this book isn't a fictional thriller that I thought it was when I bought it.  Yes, I remember buying this book from the bookstore while waiting to meet my date there.... This book is actually a non-fiction about a real fraud case that inflicted billions of dollars of losses on a lot of pension funds, (government's included), charities, individual investors, etc. etc. A few pages in, I had  read that for 9 years, the author had been working with a team to bring the Madoff investment ponzi scheme to the attention of the SEC's attention (a government's wall-street) but failed... So, the old adage that my grandparents always chanted: "Don't depend on the government!" is true. I have a feeling that this book is going to be very interesting and a better page-turner than the so-called literature fiction ...
